I can't promise it's as nihilistic as a made-up Scorsese film, but my multi-genre novel NO GODS FOR DROWNING from Polis Books has crime, noir, human sacrifice, and swaps queer subtext for inescapable queer regular text ๐Ÿ”ช๐ŸŒŠ

Are you familiar with Cordelia (movie poster)? Apparently the movie was not like the poster led people to hope. Last I saw, Cordelia had over a dozen entries on AO3, almost all were explicitly about the poster, not the movie, and itโ€™s possible none were about the movie at all.
The official movie poster for a film called Cordelia, showing a man pressed face to a wall, while a woman with a strong grip on his arm presses up behind behind him, mouthing the back of his neck. They are both wearing period drama outfits. The overall impression many people got from this was something like, โ€œstrict governess dominates employer, much to their mutual delightโ€.
