Re-sharing my thread from last year. I am one of the #MillionsMissing. If you could spare 5 mins to contact your MP, or give a few pennies to those who amplify the voices of those too ill to speak loudly, that would be brilliant. We need healthy allies more than ever before.

I spoke out on Saturday, I spoke for those too ill to speak. I spoke about what life with #MECFS is like... thread #MillionsMissing2019

Gaia’s family has campaigned tirelessly to bring this issue to light. We need more funding for #epilepsy health services, and better communication so people get more holistic support. People with #epilepsy deserve better. #JusticeForGaia

Could research into Long Covid unlock the mystery of ME? An in-depth look at the issue in a week when people with ME have been rocked with delaying treatment guidelines. Story told with the invaluable help of and team.

Could the link between long Covid and ME lead to a breakthrough for sufferers? People with chronic fatigue syndrome have spoken of not being taken seriously but that could change as more research is carried out into the long-term effects of coronavirus thetimes.co.uk/article/the-li

Yes!! To say you need to keep a bad treatment because it’s the only thing available is nonsensical. The fact that this is all we have (a ‘treatment’ which causes harm to over 60% of people) is the entire problem!!

"All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender, for it is all give and no take." Ghandi ME patients would rather no treatment than bad treatment... that is a change for the better.

Unbelievable. A tiny cadre of powerful psychiatrists with their legacies on the line are stepping in to try to overturn scientific consensus and the advocacy of tens of thousands of ME patients. UK healthcare is just as broken as US healthcare, just in a different way.

Absolutely incoherent. The #MECFS guidelines are "rigorous", produced "to the letter", but because (some) MDs unhappy, they're "paused". Impossible to adjust guidelines without diluting them. How is that good for patients? What is NICE for exactly? nice.org.uk/news/article/n

This is SO infuriating- people with too much power refusing to accept that certain ‘treatments’ for #MECFS are harmful and so causing further damage 🤯🤯🤯 their reputations are apparently more important than the health of millions

.@NICEComms has to decide whether it's a science-based organisation, or whether it's beholden to a lobby group that refuses to let go of dangerous and long-discredited quack "treatments" for ME/CFS. Its credibility hangs on the outcome. twitter.com/NICEComms/stat…

As the subject remains on the news agenda, but both the government and Opposition ignore the hulking great pachyderm in the room, I’m retweeting this thread. Sentences do nothing to tackle sexual violence when the criminal justice system is too broke to even process cases.
Quote Tweet
Any politician of any party who claims that the answer to tackling violence against women is simply a matter of “tougher sentences” is not being honest with the public. Let me tell you about a case I’m currently prosecuting. [THREAD]

Hancock promised that we would ‘not be forgotten’ while, at the same time, putting us in a position where we have to use our already limited energy and health to hassle already overstretched GPs- leaving many forgotten #mecfs

There’s now a real issue with healthy people getting the vaccine before pw serious underlying health conditions. It’s slightly down to local variation but the JCVI list always put too little emphasis on young people with disabilities. It’s hard for worried families to watch.

If the Christian lobby is powerful enough to insist that churches remain open in Tier 4, why isn't it powerful enough to insist that the hungry are fed, refugees are welcomed, widows and orphans are cared for, prisoners are treated with dignity, the homeless are housed?

ME/CFS is: not having even a nano gram of faith in relying on your body to be able to do even simple things. You make an appt you cannot reschedule and on the day you cry because you don’t have the strength to go outside. Vast majority cannot comprehend what this is like. #mecfs

To be fair, I don't have any "views on climate change" either. Just like I don't have any "views" on gravity, the fact that the earth is round, photosynthesis nor evolution... But understanding and knowing their existence really makes life in the 21st century so much easier.

My 2yo kept saying “wimeeNA shot” & getting really frustrated that I didn’t understand. Eventually, he said “mummy, it’s that song you’ve been singing” and I realised he was trying to sing “I am not throwing away my shot” 😂. I must have been singing it a lot... #hamiltonmusical
