"Green tea? Slime is green. Snot is green. Tea has no business being green." - Tamsin in "A Room Swept White" by Sophie Hannah. Now you know why all of my favourite psychological thriller writers are British women. They know what's what.

Excuse me. I think you’ll find my Franglais is of the highest quality and refinement.

Yes, yes, it is appalling schoolgirl French. Je ne care pas.

Why does my dog appear to understand French? Clearly much more of my communication with him is body language than I realised!

*Of course, they can't really be civilised human beings because they are French. (It's obligatory to gratuitously insult the French if one is British, OK?! It's been built into our culture for centuries)

I am observing something similar. I keep getting tagged into French conversations about Cynical Theories as the translation has just been released there. I can't help noticing people are disagreeing politely with each other about wokeness like civilised human beings or something

There are arguments to be made about the extent of the problem and whether certain people or groups are overestimating or underestimating it and whether they are responding to it in a productive or counterproductive way. But denying the problem to exist just wastes all our time.

But if you exist to keep telling people dealing daily with a flood of people with a CSJ problem that the problem doesn't exist, pls go & sit in the corner with the "Covid is a myth" people out of the way of the grownups.

It's fine if you haven't personally experienced it or seen it & your interests are engaged elsewhere & you'd rather not look into it. You can just say "I don't know to what extent this problem exists."

...I'm going to have to put you in the category with 9/11 conspiracy theorists and moon landing deniers at this point.

But FOR THE SAKE OF ACTUAL FUCK, if you are STILL saying cancel culture is a right-wing moral panic and freedom of speech & belief & viewpoint diversity are doing fine when you can easily access information showing that they are not...

I know that few people see the extent of the problem of authoritarian CSJ policies & programmes being imposed on people in their workplace. I see it because I run an organisation helping them with it so they come to me.

I'm supposed to having a day off today even tho I have a gazillion things to write because I am tired and we're having one of those brief spells where nobody is immediate danger of disciplinary action requiring me to act immediately. (Many people are in danger of it next week)

You might not think they are unreasonable but tell this to our black techy who wants to object to being racialised at work by 'anti-racist' training or our feminist scholar who wants to say she doesn't have a gender identity & doesn't believe in gender identity w/out being fired.

I might try that again, actually, when I get an anxiously circling brain. I have failed repeatedly at attempts to meditate.

You know what spending hours learning poetry off by heart prevents you from doing? Thinking. That's probably a pretty good technique for controlling intrusive thoughts & OCD when they are overpowering you.

I just know I loved it as a child and spent many hours learning & reciting poetry on my own. In my case, though, it could partly have been a relaxation technique. I had OCD intrusive thoughts from the age of 7 although it wasn't diagnosed until much later.

Also, I don't know the context of who is arguing for children learning to recite poetry and who is arguing against it & why. I'm on the fringes of teacher Twitter unless it is directly CSJ-related.
