Why wouldn't you? Do that first. Encourage your students to think for themselves about why it's a bad idea and then provide any arguments they might have missed. They can't rely on you to interpret everything for them forever. They'll be needed to run the world at some point.

Sorry. Perhaps the medium is to blame? I believe I followed your point and disagreed multiple times. You supported a bad analogy, for some reason. You suggested that my students weren't being exposed to alternative views and ideas, which they are all of the time.
-
No. You are. I've responded to all that, explained analogies & clarified my difference with you on the subjects several times. You continue not to acknowledge anything I am saying. Reasoned discussion cannot happen unless you do. Progress can't unless society does. #2 #5 #6 #7pic.twitter.com/OWa4LzwxrL

I appreciate the list. Sadly, you seem to have moved away from the core idea and shifted to some sort of personal attack about my ability to communicate. Perhaps we can try again some other time?

I sincerely hope she won’t bother with you again.

@el_blanc just predicted that you would tweet something right along those lines. - 1 more reply

See, this is typical Helen rhetoric. She won't engage in honest discourse which prevents any dialectic from occurring. She can't defend her positions and often doesn't understand them fully. So she attacks and then runs out to write another article about the boogeyman left. Smh
-
OK. I thought it more than a bit odd. She seems a half decent writer, even though I don't agree with her.
-
'Half decent writer' seems to be exactly where Helen is willing to leave it. Notice that she doesn't engage on any particular discussion point, it's all ad hominem and admonishment. There is very little substance. Like her articles. Mostly moral panic and echo chambering.
-
Hmm, that is a shame. It seemed at first that she was trying to provide a "balanced" view. Live and learn.
-
Unfortunately, I think that she has become a minor celebrity in her echo chamber, which for some reason makes her more comfortable attacking those on the outside. But then never responds when the same criticisms are leveled at her, as you can see.
-
Interesting. Again, too bad.
-
But my concern isn't her, it's the message that she is unreflectively spreading. That there is some sort of evil Boogeyman left dominating campuses, which is a patent falsehood. That message started with the anti college right and, depressingly, has been picked up by liberals.
-
Totally agree. I've tried to articulate this point in a variety of ways in relation to universities in Canada.
