Maybe. However, the evidence does show that men and women both have social and intellectual needs. The fact that when given the opportunity to enter all professions & be paid the same for it, the majority of women took it might not be mass brainwashing away from their nature.https://twitter.com/JohnBoudet/status/999237439314124800 …

You’re projecting your own sense of what’s fulfilling onto others. Take gender out if it. Do you doubt that there’s a huge swath of the populace who would choose not to work another day if they could? Intellectual stimulation? 25% of Americans don’t read a single book in a year.

That was my original point. A lot of people will choose motherhood over work because there isn't any work available that appeals to them, not necessarily because they are 100% fulfilled by domestic chores. They'd hire someone to do that too if they could.

But you assume that most would use that economic and social freedom to pursue an ambitious job instead of “just” staying home. Just because you would find staying at home insufficiently stimulating doesn’t mean others would.

I have not claimed to think that other people find doing things more stimulating than staying in a house because I find it so. There is much evidence of people needing purpose & actualisation whether they are male or female.

These are measured on tests of wellbeing and psychological needs. If someone told me there is no job at all they'd prefer to staying in their own house, I'd have them checked for depression before assuming this was just who they were.

The fact is that women have always worked and when they were middle-class and not supposed to, they formed groups & charities to make things and help people. I have been studying this in the 14th century. The things women did to get out, have purpose, work with other adults.
