You appear to have conflated the idea of valuing families, having families and enjoying extended family life with "enforcement of strict gender roles." Why have you done this?

That;s the topic of the conversation you've joined. Whether women should be forced/pressured to stay home and have babies while the men go out to work.

If a woman truly has no maternal interest or instinct then by all means focus on something else. But I know female management consulting partners, female law firm partners, and in fact NZ's young Prime Minister who are happy to go ahead with family life and career success.

Of course. The argument I'm responding to is that women shouldn't have jobs because it's related to decreased population.

From an evolutionary perspective, it's self-correcting in that women who wait longer will have fewer children than women who choose to start having children earlier.

Only if this is genetic rather than cultural.

Then we don't need to worry about culture.
