Is there any medical/health problem associated with having an overbite?

The dentist tells me my daughter 'needs' a brace but the explanation seems to be cosmetic. She doesn't want one and I'm not overruling her unless it's medically necessary. If it's just cosmetic, it's like ear-piercing. Something she must weigh up the pain & inconvenience of.

If you feel the back side of her jaw, you'll notice it goes back further than normal too. Eventually, that can start pinching nerves and causing headaches from what I understand. I have one too and I'm looking at maybe getting the much more invasive surgery someday.

Does she have braces? They should be able to repair it with headgear she only has to wear when she's at home.

No. That is what she doesn't want. It freaks her out.

I mean she can get the surgery later if she decides to but it's much more invasive to do it after her growth spurts end.

I am not sure she'll ever bother unless it causes pain. She doesn't care what she looks like and I'm not going to force her to have a cosmetic procedure.

Yeah, I wouldn't force her either. I was more writing my thoughts in the context of writing them to her than to you.

Yes, I realised that. I was making my decision. To you.

Lol I think it really was worth clarifying here. Would be kind of dickish to argue she should force her imo.
