I know I have tweeps who believe that society works better and is happier generally when traditional gender roles are upheld. Perhaps if we could measure this rigorously, you would even be right. But, as usual, this tells us nothing about any individual and the individual matters

Feel free to say this and show evidence for it. People can consider whether they would be happier that way. If they think not and live their life the way they choose to, there is no point going on about brainwashing. There's almost never any point to going on about brainwashing

Happiness/well-being tends to go down for women as their choices have expanded. Children today spend less time with their parents as well. There are Always multiple ways forward so it's not that we need to go back to the 50s. But I Think we've been too Quick making Changes to

societal structure without thinking through all the consequences. When 2 parents work full time they still have to do the same amount of household work as before, but now in evenings/weekends. Both relationships and kids suffer from this. We've radically changed the

household and relationship dynamic in the name of equality. But if equality is the end goal there are many other ways than two people working 40h weeks. 20+20, or 30+30, or whatever, would be just as "equal".

I think it's also quite one-sided to think of men as winners and women as loosers in the career/family game. I hear women being encouraged to be able to choose both "just as men have been able to". But men who do that DO make sacrifices. There's also a narrative that is very

critical of ppl saying that women's role revolves around the family. But I'm part of several men's group and we always talk about how a man's primarily responsibilty is to ge a good husband and father. Like it's not a strange thing at all. Bc it isn't. If you say that women's

I don't think there is brainwashing/indoctrination, but I do think there are a ton of unchallenged assumptions that are the result of very radical ideas trickling down into the mainstream from some very extremist elements in the past and present.
