I had this argument with a Muslim academic arguing for collectivism. I disagree with that, I think there are many people who's only communities are based on profession, hobby, and other interests of a non-moral nature. Sure, we all operate under some sort of legal system which is inherently a set of morals, but I wouldn't call that a community.

Then we're talking about different things. You're seeing it as a much bigger thing than our tendency to seek out people with similar values for our friends and having certain unspoken boundaries.
