I don’t find her “all men must die” gag offensive, but I was a little shook when she responded to someone quoting male suicide stats by saying “goes to show how much men like killing people”

Clem spoke her mind.
-
And her mind will therefore be evaluated on its contents.

Somehow, I doubt *her* views are why the event was cancelled. From my reading of the situation thus far, there was more concern about the discussion *about* her views, not her views in and of themselves. I could be wrong and would be happy to be so.

I think you are spot on. This is a direct quote from
@LifelineAust Note how they don't say#KillAllMen is wrong.pic.twitter.com/wJ0n7sKPff

Absolutely.

Free speech doesn’t imply that we should feel obliged to invite her to speak. It only means we must not stop others from doing so.

The big question is how they ever considered her suitable in the first place. I fear the general state of society is far worse than most realise.
-
This is what
@LifelineAust stated about Clem's comments. They don't take issue with her#KillAllMen hashtag. LifeLine is perfectly fine with itpic.twitter.com/j0QJxoQR48

Being right for the wrong reasons is worse than being wrong. This is why you have to show your methods on a maths test.

Had been reasonable had they come to that conclusion on their own terms. But it looks like they buckled under the pressure of online outrage.
-
You mean nearly 15000 people expressed their free speech. These people have no power to force LifeLine to change. LifeLine made that decision based upon the free speech of others
-
Sure, but it's a run of the mill deplatforming campaign. One that's cheered on by people who are usually vehemently opposed to deplatforming campaigns.
-
I don't see this as a deplatforming, it is more about people having had enough of the continual denigration of men by feminists like Clementine and Tracey Spicer, especially in the area of mental health where six men a day suicide
-
You're conflating method and motive.
-
How so?
-
You're using a motive (people being fed up with Clementine Ford) to explain why their method (using informal power to stop her from speaking at a certain event) doesn't qualify as deplatforming.
