Good point. People can certainly believe an aggressive action is warranted and be wrong about that. But I think the tendency now is to accuse someone of bullying or aggression when they're not hostile in the least.https://twitter.com/neilwa/status/996102448044560384 …

"I never hit anyone that didn't deserve it." The person that said that to me would be amazed that anyone thought they were a bully. They knew they intend to hit someone, they just thought it was justified.

A young friend of mine who is mixed race got upset coz an older white colleague kept describing her tan as 'being dirty.' She mostly told me about it because she felt unreasonable for feeling upset because there was no malice there. I suggested saying something about it.

She decided not to saying it was something she'd just have to stop being silly about. She is very against the whole idea of microaggressions. But I think there was a middle way. To actually say to her what she said to me in a friendly, non-accusing way.

Part of the problem is the focus on how individuals "feel". Two people can experience identical treatment, and one will consider it positive, and the other negative (even accounting for demographics). So by making how someone feels the judging criteria, it is entirely arbitrary.

I've certainly seen this when businesses have to deal with the public. It's a convenient way to silence deservedly angry customers. New follower btw. Very much enjoy your tweets and the responses.

Even mild criticism is taken as bullying now..
