So, she either thinks parents should ask consent and then respect 'no' in which case their kids will probably get very sick, die or be taken away or she just hasn't thought this through and recognised that 'no' often has to be overruled in very young children.

Personally I'm more concerned with trying to give kids the tools to identify what is and isn't acceptable behaviour from adults while they're still children, as well as the confidence to assert themselves if they feel that something isn't right.

My immediate reaction to this is "no, kids need less options." As a father of three I haven't exactly found that kids learn to become independent smart nice people by being asked whether they want to do stuff they have to do. Oppposite is true.Our 1st got options, 3rd gets orders
