It's also true that some women who have been abused (perhaps multiple times) turn to feminism. I empathise with them even though they have the bad tendency to project their own suffering onto society.

Yes, I feel the same way about ex-Muslims who become anti-Muslims and ally with right-wing anti-Muslim bigots rather than liberal critics of Islam. It is hard to blame them for feeling that way although it makes critique of Islam & support of liberal & ex Muslims harder.
