Increasingly often, I turn down conversations because they are the very basic roots of an issue that has developed branches and twigs and buds and I left the roots a long time ago and don't want to go back there. Sometimes, people get annoyed with me about this.

You are dead right to say something like 'That which is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.' I accept that the person making a claim has the responsibility to support with evidence & argument *if they want to have their claim taken seriously*

But if I'm talking about a very specific issue within a very specific branch of feminism in relation to something that just happened, I might not want to discuss the correct definition of feminism or care if you won't take the argument I am making seriously unless I do.

So, if I say something like 'I had this conversation 100s of times a few years ago & don't have any interest in revisiting it,' please accept that I mean exactly that and not 'I won't engage with your argument coz I don't have an answer or think you should just trust me on this'
