Ha! Steven Pinker on being asked why he believes so strongly in the power of human reason by someone who says he's sceptical: "What are we doing here if you don’t believe in reason? Why don’t we have an arm wrestle or a beauty contest?"
And you are reasoning with me about them. Why? How did you come to the conclusion that these things are a point against Pinker saying that reason has power and why are you arguing it to me?

Oh ! It was something I learnt in High School about reason . . . they were teaching us Plato's Crito. In fact, from the original text so small chance for misinterpretation . . .

I think there is possibly a language barrier here. Pinker's point was that any argument requires reason so arguing that reason is worthless is contradictory. You seem to be doing that too.

Indeed there is a misevaluation of the power of reasoning . . . But that is a philosophical and spiritual issue.
