As usual, with identity-based activism, you do not support the group you claim to champion, only the members of it who already agree with you or are willing to take on your ideology wholesale in return for support. You make it much harder for the rest of them to speak at all.

I think I am lucky to have the kind of personality that responds to being told I can't do something (weight-loss is seldom maintained in the longterm) or that I mustn't do something (say that obesity is a serious health problem) by getting more determined to do it.

And, of course, I am for the freedom of everyone to make their own decisions. My father decided his life would be better if he drank much more than recommended and smoked even if it would very likely be shorter than if he didn't. The same decision can be made with food.

But I do object to people trying to prevent others from saying that those are realistically the options to be weighed up. And also to people getting angry with fat people for not feeling healthy and attractive as tho we're letting the team down. Fuck off. I am not on your team.

Good on you. The "health at every size" movement is an absolute blight. Doing my own weight loss work (over 25lbs down, woo), I'm so glad I haven't personally encountered any of those silly crab bucket people (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crab_mentality …)

Additionally, if you're interested in rage reading some of their absurdities, http://reddit.com/r/fatlogic is a treasure trove

The road you're is not one that I envy. I'm willing to bet neither side fully supports you, and wishes you would go away. I pray for your strength to continue on your independent, free thinking way.

"Being fat is bad for your health." "Being fat doesn't mean you deserve to be bullied for it." These two statements are not mutually exclusive but there seems to be an increasing number of people who act as if they are.

The older you get the more excess weight exacerbates other health problems (and the data on % of overweight Americans and pre/diabetes is freaking frightening). Having the discipline it takes to lose weight is a real battle....kudos to everyone fighting the fight.

Well i'm gonna be a typical guy. Slow tread mill walking. the actual trick is to go slow and look at it in a couple of years time not 9 months. Slow ten minute walk, good ankle supporting shoes* Pending on health water walking. The fight is not everyone else but our own minds ->
