I don't care much if there are posters of fat women or not. I am fat but making progress on not being. I don't want to 'identify' with fatness & I think people who do are extremely misguided.

I once fat-shamed someone when I was slim. :( She yelled at me. I said 'excuse me' when I couldn't overtake her on the pavement. Her: You don't need to walk so fucking fast?! Me: We can both walk at our preferred speeds if you'd just waddle to one side. That was not kind of me.

Religion is basically gone as a provider of identity, and the vacuum is being filled by competing identities faster than you can say, "That's problematic."

A healthy approach and one the much-discussed-of-late incel internet subculture could learn a lot from: don’t ‘identify’ with aspects of your life that you aren’t happy with and it will be much easier to escape them

I suspect the majority of us are ‘battling the bulge’ at some level and some point in time. Certainly, being overweight doesn’t need it’s own identity politics.

I think don't believe they are able to change or that they cannot do the work necessary to make the change they desire. It is easier to adopt an identity based on their current state. My hypothesis because losing weight is tough as hell.

A diet of solely wodka and orange works wonders too.

Pretty simple if you view through an evolutionary lens: being fat is largely a remediable instance of the mismatch effects of modern lifestyle patterns - primarily easy, round the clock access to hyper-saccharine/palatable foods. Nothing worth celebrating at the level of identity

I don’t care what’s on posters either, but if it’s a car ad and the intent is for me to look at it, it better be a Ferrari and not a Pontiac Aztec, even if the latter is a more reliable form of transportation.
