I think there are still a significant number of universal liberals on the left but I agree that the Peterson phenomenon reveals a need for inspirational metanarratives. My understanding of pragmatism was that knowledge was based on an underlying framework, and the best framework was that which best served the individual in processing and communicating new information and interacting with the world in the long term

It’s confusing that JP uses “truth” in an esoteric, pragmatic way. Once one realizes that’s what he’s doing, however, the problem disappears. If one wants to defend the wage gap under a pragmatic theory of truth, they should be clear (as JP has) that that is what they’re doing.
