Hmmm, yes. I think we do have to be aware that constantly trashing a group will likely make it feel alienated but we also have to be able to address problems within groups. Seeing that being a man is an immutable characteristic and believing there is no god but God and Muhammad is his prophet is not. There is no ideology of maleness but there are ideologies which say what maleness should be and we can criticise harmful ones of those.

I know that I am much more receptive to having my liberalism, atheism, humanism etc criticised than I would be to being condemned as part of an evil collective because I am a woman and held to account for all things done by the worst women. The latter seldom happens tho.

It has done. I was once informed by a real-life in-law that, because I am a woman, I am only interested in my husband for his income and that I would certainly divorce him, keep his child from him & demand so much child support that he'd be destitute because women are evil.
