Seeing that being a man is an immutable characteristic and believing there is no god but God and Muhammad is his prophet is not. There is no ideology of maleness but there are ideologies which say what maleness should be and we can criticise harmful ones of those.

I know that I am much more receptive to having my liberalism, atheism, humanism etc criticised than I would be to being condemned as part of an evil collective because I am a woman and held to account for all things done by the worst women. The latter seldom happens tho.

It has done. I was once informed by a real-life in-law that, because I am a woman, I am only interested in my husband for his income and that I would certainly divorce him, keep his child from him & demand so much child support that he'd be destitute because women are evil.

There wasn't much I could say to that but the injustice of it made me loathe that person and I am very glad it wasn't a culturally sanctioned narrative and men who think like this don't have much cultural power and there isn't a whole subculture of women self-flagellating.

Trashing is not the problem! It arises from these guys being treated as "friends" or "boys". So they're robbed of being a man. Because if they we're evaluated by those standards, the evaluator would have to be "rude". So they're treated with "kindness for their own good".
