To everyone on the left concerned about men finding @jordanbpeterson appealing - what's *your* answer?
Do you have something to say to young men besides labelling them the enemy and pathologizing them?
Once you figure this out, a healthy debate will ensue.

I don't see how either tear something down to state that there is no objective truth...
-
You don't? Truth does not need to be objectively true. It can also be narrative wisdom. Therefore the objectivity of truth is denied. See also the conversation with Sam Harris in which he said this:pic.twitter.com/zddxguxpS4

Truth to him is pragmatic, not objective. It is what makes us thrive. So if believing something which is not factually true makes us survive, to Peterson, it becomes true.
-
you mean something like this?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0_J998UD9s …
-
Probably but whereas most people can say 'This isn't actually true but believing it is helpful,' Peterson will say it is true.
-
I think you are looking at it in a slightly more critical way than it needs to be. The idea of depth psychology (and maps of meaning) is not the objective truths of the world, but how we relate to those things. Those relationships have paths that can lead us to a good/bad places.

Point taken. Mind you, it reminded me of Eve more than anything
(Christian tweep Eve, God is essence of actuality, etc. Remember?). -
Good eye! Yes, this is much more akin to theological metaphysics. Epistemology very similar but key terminology differs. Theology/postmodernism/metaphysics is the triad of woo.

Second one is Peterson. Is that not a fair assumption - that ethics and morals don’t necessarily come from science and rationalism?
-
They're both Peterson. As to the latter, it is not an uncommon view that they can't come from science and rationalism - the is/ought divide - but I would disagree for reasons which are too complicated for Twitter & which I'm sick of arguing. See The Moral Landscape.
-
No way! Well that’s an eye opener, I hadn’t realised just how postmodern he is. Cool, I’ll look it up.

Both could be Peterson, maybe a young version.
-
They are indeed both Peterson. Both Maps of Meaning.
-
Postmodern text was a lot easier to read those days too. Nice game
