To everyone on the left concerned about men finding @jordanbpeterson appealing - what's *your* answer?
Do you have something to say to young men besides labelling them the enemy and pathologizing them?
Once you figure this out, a healthy debate will ensue.

Ah right! Having not been is such convos, I missed the second part where narrative trumps objective truth. You know what I think about *that*.

Here's a game. Is this postmodernism or Peterson?pic.twitter.com/db3SH4u0GO
-
I don't see how either tear something down to state that there is no objective truth...
-
You don't? Truth does not need to be objectively true. It can also be narrative wisdom. Therefore the objectivity of truth is denied. See also the conversation with Sam Harris in which he said this:pic.twitter.com/zddxguxpS4

Truth to him is pragmatic, not objective. It is what makes us thrive. So if believing something which is not factually true makes us survive, to Peterson, it becomes true.
-
you mean something like this?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0_J998UD9s …
-
Probably but whereas most people can say 'This isn't actually true but believing it is helpful,' Peterson will say it is true.
-
I think you are looking at it in a slightly more critical way than it needs to be. The idea of depth psychology (and maps of meaning) is not the objective truths of the world, but how we relate to those things. Those relationships have paths that can lead us to a good/bad places.

@Intrinsic29 might have some stuff to hand. I am so sick of the subject, I can't bring myself to look any of it up. -
JBP is a trad Christian apologist imo. Pretty much all of his recommendations align with Trad values and that's not a mistake. His epistemological tactics are about building an epistemic foundation for his religious claims. And his advice for young men is mostly obvious imo.
-
That which isn't obvious seems to be totally speculative and even pseudo-mystical pseudo psychology (psychology already has a huge problem with replication and his poetic speculation isn't likely to help that).
-
But I am ok with agreeing with him where he's right and just criticizing him where he's wrong. I just find he seems to be wrong about quite a bit.
-
Here's a timestamped link that substantiates my claim that he's a Christian apologist (and a weak one at that):https://youtu.be/jjYQ48t4C8U?t=1m45s …
-
I have another one where he says that women who wear makeup to work and don't want to be sexually harassed are hypocrites too. Can find it if you want.
-
That's OK. EVeryone knows of it. :)
-
I just realized after I wrote my opinions that you were actually asking for links/examples.
