It should be clear that this view of society is only a problem IF IT IS NOT TRUE. It has been true for most of history & opposition in the form of overcoming feudalism, theocracy, slavery, patriarchy, colonialism, apartheid were central to the development of liberal democracy.

It is clear to everyone that the American War of Independence was not American Marxism simply because it relied on a belief that an oppressor group was oppressing the population and needed to be overthrown by revolution to achieve freedom and social justice.

This is clear because of the belief that this action was rightful. The same holds for the abolition of slavery, the liberation of women and the decriminalisation of homosexuality and other forms of structural injustice imposed on oppressed groups.

Therefore, the conflation of perceptions of oppressor and oppressed groups and oppressive systems is only associated with Marxism when we think those perceptions are wrong. Much better to make arguments showing why they are wrong than to call them a form of Marxism.
