What is crazy is suggesting that if you support freedom of choice, you are then committed to supporting what people choose or that if you don't support what people choose, you necessarily want to deny them that choice. This isn't at all how it works.

I haven't said they are. 3 out of 5 UK Christians supported same sex marriage. 42% of American Muslims do.

I have only scanned it but anecdotally I would say that the Catholic Church in the UK can sometimes feel more conservative than bits of the South American Church. May be a by product of them absorbing the CoE objectors to women’s ordination.

Exactly the point of the essay. You can justify your prejudice. If people want to say that homosexuality is wrong, they can't just fall back on 'love the sinner, hate the sin.' They need to justify that claim. And if they can't, maybe they have a conflict of values.
