The vast majority of postmodernists have no idea what post modernism is, or that they are believers in it.

Ergo, blaming "the left's" pathology on post-modernism is a straw man dead end. What % of folks engaged in deplatforming are versed in Derrida and Foucault? Mouffe & Leclau? How many read more Marx than the CM?Very few. Bad argument

That was the point. People can now be culturally and epistemologically relativist, believe that knowledge is a construct of discourses of power & that people are positioned by identity within those discourses rather than individuals w/out the faintest idea where this came from.

I would agree with this, but I think bundling all of those bits under the label "Marxist", as
@jordanbpeterson does, is intellectually dishonest. People have internalized these concepts without understanding the source--that doesn't make them "marxists" or "poststructuralists"1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
Well, I am certainly not calling postmodernism 'Marxism,' and argue against this frequently. Marxists still exist but they're not terribly keen on postmodernism or its offshoots. The high deconstructive phase ended to be replaced by activism-scholarship.

I appreciate & agree with that distinction but based on the ideology of many from the deconstructive phase, it is quite common for people, especially those associated with the dark internet, or whatever they call themselves, to conflate Marxism, radical "leftism" & postmodernism

It's difficult to do that based on the ideology of those from the deconstructive phase. The primary metanarratives targetted by the postmodernists were Christianity, science and Marxism. Foucault was particularly anti-soviet and Derrida took it apart utterly.

Thank you for the exchange, I appreciate your comments!
@jordanbpeterson consistently conflates postmodernism and poststructuralism with Marxism and "extreme leftism" It is the foundation of his whole schtick in my interpretation of the podcasts I have heard him on.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
:) Yes, I disagree with him very strongly about that and wish he wouldn't. It makes it much harder to address the problem.
