It's a mistake to think of this as an epistemology. If you do that they have you.

Well, I don't think it's a valid one. But how else do I address the epistemological problems?

And you'll find even the most ardent postmodernist will use empiricism. You have to be able to point this out.

So why call it an epistemology, when they'll use empiricism, which is an epistemology. You flatten out all the important differences.

I'm calling a specific epistemology which works on standpoint theory an epistemology. What do you think I'm calling an epistemology?

I am saying that we *shouldn't* keep saying 'postmodernism' when we mean a certain set of ideas based on an epistemology of situated knowledge. Because postmodernism is much broader than this. I have just argued this in my response to the defence of postmodernism.

But it's not just based on a standpoint epistemology. Their account of language is based on a rationalist epistemology, and Foucault was an empiricist. Epistemology isn't that interesting unless you're a philosopher of knowledge.
