Postmodernism is notoriously difficult to understand and this leads people to give up or latch on to largely erroneous but graspable explanations like 'cultural Marxism' which misses the epistemological framework which is essential to understand.

And that framework isn't nearly as complicated as postmodernists make it out to be. The few core ideas causing us so many problems are actually quite simple to break down and explain although they are counterintuitive to both liberal & conservative conceptions of fairness.

'Power politics' maybe? Does that sort of work?
-
Hmm. Partly but central is the role of language and the understanding of positionality. Critics keep trying to point out hypocrisy & inconsistency inherent in the SocJus stuff because they don't grasp that positionality rejects all previous liberal approaches to equality.
-
I want to say something like 'linguistic power politics' because they really do believe if you change the way people speak you'll change not only the way people think but also change the world (only to be terribly disappointed come election time, of course).
-
Do you think some of that might stem from a shallow/simplistic understanding of neuro-linguistic programming?
-
At the moment we're trying to come up with a label that isn't profoundly crappy. This is difficult.
