You can’t have honest conversations when one side is in bad faith. You try to have honest conversations with these kids and they act like you threw acid at them. They’ve been fed this comforting lie that it’s everyone else’s fault and they won’t accept responsibility.

The difference is that feminists aren’t driving trucks into crowds.
-
Nearly everyone isn't driving trucks into crowds. I think people who drive trucks into crowds deserve their own category.
-
You were talking about people who form unhealthy, resentful & angry ideological groups online. My suggestion was that some members of them will be reachable and some won't whether feminist or incel or whatever.
-
That’s true, but when the violence starts spilling out into the real world (and this isn’t the first time it’s happened) we need to start figuring out why it’s happening and stop it. Feminists aren’t hurting anybody except for some right wing feelings.
-
Yes! We do. This will prevent mass blame of whole groups. Here in London, we have to have big concrete bollards now to stop people driving vans into crowds. We don't blame all Muslims for this. Feminists are hurting lots of people, men & women, coz they have great cultural power
-
Feminism didn’t do this to these boys. I have a really simple experiment to prove it. Go to /r9k/ (http://boards.4chan.org/r9k/ ) If just the threads themselves isn’t revealing to you, start a new thread and ask “why haven’t any of you tried dating an overweight or black girl”
-
And in the same way, men didn't make feminists post horrible things about how evil men are? I can show you some nasty stuff too. But feminism isn't the entire cause of men feeling alienated and some of them getting misogynistic over it. 91% of women aren't feminists.
-
You’re talking about posting horrible things vs. committing mass murder. The mass murder is worse.

As feminism has evolved & empowered women, we've neglected--to some undiagnosed extent--the emotional world of men. Cdn male suicide rate is 3x women's. It's a very serious problem, one we have yet to grapple with. Academic, feminist ideology isn't helping. Very dismissive.
-
Yes, there is certainly a crisis in male mental health going on right now. Far, far more kill themselves than anyone else. We do need to actually care about this or even if people can't bring themselves to care, to understand so violence whether to self or other can be prevented.
-
The dismissiveness I see online is heartbreaking & is one reason I don't call myself a feminist anymore (of the academic variety). I teach young men. A bit of actual contact would go a long way toward ameliorating the MF divide, but I can't see academic feminists volunteering.
