I think the epistemological issue is a lot deeper than what most people think. The crux for me is that the vast majority of people that show "postmodernist" and "Marxist" traits don't have a single bit of knowledge of these philosophies, it's just ingrained into our culture.

Yes, but its a way of thinking that's getting ingrained into it. Just as people can think through the mindset of Islam without having studied theology or how we can be empirical & rational without having studies Enlightenment thinkers. It permeates. I am writing a book abt it

I'm not sure the epistemological issue, as far as the left is concerned, is anything other than opportunistic window dressing, invoked to disregard one side's arguments while never applied to its own.

You think they secretly retain a belief in objective knowledge, the marketplace of ideas and individuality but pretend not to? I don't think so. I think they really believe the 'knowledge is a construct of power perpetuated by discourses' nonsense.
