I completely don't believe in god but I am not an atheist tribalist because I don't believe holding this disbelief makes someone one of my tribe. My respected people include those who agree with this and those who don't.

I completely think that evidence should be required to believe in something but I am not a skeptical tribalist because I don't believe holding this view makes someone one of my tribe. I certainly don't support everyone who identifies as a 'skeptic.'

I completely think that liberalism - the aim for equal opportunities, freedoms and rights - is the best model of society but people who share this position are so ideologically and intellectually diverse otherwise, I don't think this can count as a tribe.

Lets separate commitment to certain principles and epistemologies from tribalism. It should not be suspicious if someone has consistent principles and values but be wary of people who only find common ground with others who share them & think in terms of in-groups & out-groups.

I think if I am going to break it down, binary style, I would have to go with those who argue, debate, converse in good faith and those who don't. Everything else grows from there.
