Yet again, I have well-meaning men telling me I live in a patriarchy. Yet again, I'm very irritated that they think they have some kind of power over women. It makes me want to challenge them to a fight of some non-physical kind. See how well they do. V childish. I shall forbear.

I *know* they mean well. I *know* their intention is not to make women feel powerless & fearful & as though they can't possibly succeed in this world. I know most women are not going to believe them & be discouraged from what they want to do. I still wish they'd stop it.

Some women, on being told they are weak and powerless and the world is against them, will believe it and crumble. Others will believe it and fight. Many more will ignore the paranoid conspiracy theorists and just carry on regardless.

The least appealing response to this narrative is believing it & both crumbling & fighting at the same time. That's when we get that lovely mixture of rage & victim mentality which characterises a certain type of feminism & is so embarrassing for universally liberal (ex)feminists

I honestly don’t know enough about the different sides of the ‘patriarchy or not’ debate. Can you point me to useful article thats pro your argument, please?

Don't you love it when woke dudes try to tell women they should be scared and how they should be offended

I once tweeted my opinion on the Google memo and how I didn't find it offensive and some men went out of their way to private message me to tell me how I'm opressed and need to be angry and offended 😑

Victim mongering. Its ego massaging for the mongerer - they get to feel as though they are a superior human - might even be financial return. The victim is left with exactly what you point to. Many are willing to be complicit and play the victim. This is a pernicious cycle.

It's odd when I find some white person on here like. "You're a minority and you're oppressed!!!" "No I'm not." "You're just ignorant of your oppression and wrong." Those types of dialogues are always mega condescending.

Being a "feminist" gives these men a sense of superiority over ordinary men and women, and the justification necessary to condescend to and educate "naive" women like yourself.

A lot of time and verbiage spent explaining how you're not a victim. How very Shakespearean.

It's a mythologized world view. Intersectional feminism is like a religion and "the patriarchy" is its devil. Conspiracy theories are like this too. There's some evil villain behind everything bad, so we get to be heroic by fighting it.

Nothing wrong with resorting to a moderated physical confrontation as well, ie in the ring, big gloves and mouth guards. Very cathartic. And a few lessons in the noble art of boxing will have you beating these fellows 👊
