People get so confused about what hypocrisy is. Apparently, it is now saying something related to a position you hold then declining to explain your position with accompanying evidence on Twitter.

There is, of course, a need to support truth claims with evidence if you want them taken seriously, but this does not mean you cannot then say anything which contains a truth claim without explaining it with evidence to everyone who asks.

I could not, for example, reasonably approach a biologist talking about something which relies on accepting evolution & tell her that she is a hypocrite unless she give me a personal explanation of evolution with accompanying sources.

We all know how annoying it is when someone makes some wild claim and tells you to research it yourself when asked for evidence but it is justified to say this when you're trying to discuss a thing & don't want to have to keep stopping & explaining the basics.

"You're expecting me to just take your word for it!' No. Don't do that. If you don't already know that what I am saying has been established with much evidence, don't believe someone saying so on Twitter. Go read about it. I don't have time or inclination to guide the process rn.
