Areo will soon be publishing a well-written and well-argued defence of postmodernism. I encourage you all to read it because it puts forward the best case for it, makes the most common defences that you're likely to hear and also some original & thought-provoking ones.

I will, of course, be disagreeing with it.

It can be difficult to argue with defenders of postmodernism because they begin with assumptions that reason and evidence are suspicious and also, too often, try to 'win' by messing around with the meaning of words (because they're postmodernists).

In a recent 'debate' with one, he redefined 'postmodernism' as 'thinking' and mounted a defence of why thinking is good and why being critical of thinking is bad.

Therefore, it is wonderful when an honest person who understands postmodernism wants to argue about its worth in a straightforward way making reasoned arguments. I am quite excited about it although, ultimately, I think he is wrong. I can concede some points tho.

There are moments when I think that some aspects of postmodernism don't seem to be entirely devoid of interesting insight. Same for communism, for that matter. It just seems to suffer from the minor flaw of wreaking total havoc when it escapes the academy.

WHAT? “Post-modernism” is a fecundity of lack. It’s inveterate: everything past modernism is post-modernism; loss of all forms, structures, rules, traditions, reactions against traditions; ergo: even the term post-modern is an unacceptable assertion of an unknowlable Apeiron.

The computer you are using works because of "forms, structures, rules": e.g., code like this,pic.twitter.com/PGp7q5gxGJ

You are delusional: I NEVER said there were no forms or structure! I said that is what post-modernism says...that is why I found it surprising that someone was writing about it. FOCUS!
