It is all hypothetical, yes. There are men who actually cry when they lose a baby. My husband did twice. There are men who callously abandon their pregnant partners. But in this tweet, it's hypothetical. We have to go situation by situation.

It's quite possible to be sympathetic to a grieving man and angry with a callous one who abandons his partner. It makes no sense to pick a side on this because men are individuals.

I also surf w guys. overheard a group of them other day joking @ how they don’t use FB because they’d hate for a woman to track them down to tell them they had kid. Like I said—tearful men may exist. But I’ve never seen one. (It’s different if you r married and miscarry.)

FWIW, I was sickened to hear these guys, who I’d thought of as good guys, speak so dismissively of women who might have mothered babies by them. It really upset me. But...I’ve never overheard a man say he’d be happy to find out he’d fathered a kid. :(

I have another anecdote! Ha! My best friend’s boyfriend had a one night stand. Found out the girl had his baby. He fought like hell to have shared custody rights. Now my best friend, her two boys, her boyfriend, and his little girl make a pretty happy little family. :)

People do different things. A person close to me had single mom who had few kids w guy who wouldnt marry her. mom got sick, father still wouldnt take responsibility. kids ended up in foster care. I’m sorry that the negative stories affect me more than the positive ones.

They affect me more too but this hypothetical situation was one in which a man experienced grief at the loss of a potential child and not one in which he didn't give a shit or abandoned his pregnant partner.
