Good article. This notion of demanding of be heard and shaming over being deplatformed strikes me as self-entitled and childish. If a person’s views are divisive and harmful, that should be openly & honestly discussed when an organization considers giving them a platform.

Deplatforming doesn't really fit in this fallacy. That's when it is decided that no-one can hear a certain person or certain ideas. Individuals can be free of having to hear them by just not attending.
-
An organization is under no obligation to provide a platform to views it deems harmful. That’s all.
-
Yes, that's a different thing altogether. Organisations can decide they only want Christians, conservatives, liberals, atheists whatever. They shouldn't prevent others from hearing them.
-
I think the mistake I see some people make is feeling that they’re entitled to speak at an organization’s venue. Whether it’s a conference or a social media site, the organizer is entitled to cultivate the tone and types of messages they choose.

Of course. Organisations aren't required to uphold free speech. If they have a science conference, they have the right to only platform scientists. It's when some ideologically motivated organisation decides what *other* organisations in the same eg university may platform...
-
eg, the Islamic society in one of my universities didn't want the LGBT society to have events and the LGBT society didn't want radfems on the campus at all & the radfems didn't want trans people included and so on...
-
That’s a problem. I don’t envy the challenges University Administrations face.
