I'm often told I shouldn't bother breaking down bad ideas within academic & SocJus leftism, making them accessible and pointing out the problems because their proponents don't believe in reason & evidence & won't listen. I think this is the wrong way to look at it.

Secondly, I don't think there are that many immovable true believers but very many reasonable liberal leftists with a strong social conscience internalising some of its thinking and values in milder form. They remain open to better arguments.

Thirdly, there are a considerable number of former lefties going right because they think only the right is acknowledging the problem on the left. Those of us on the left who see it need to be much more visible.

Fourthly, there is always a point to making reasoned arguments even if you feel like they're not hitting their target & mostly fall on deaf ears. History shows us that ideas & culture change constantly. We can all do something to influence how they change.
