This corresponds to an extent with British left wing politics in general. Many upper middle class socialists are very keen on the working class *in principle*, but feel a bit embarrassed by them in reality.

The problem with working out fair systems theoretically from a distance is that it requires the actual players in the game to think like you do and make it happen. They frequently don't whether the structure you're looking at is economic or identitarian.

I look for at identitarian, obviously. You just aren't going to get women as a whole to comply with feminist theorisings about gender equality and go into STEM in the same number as men, work the same hours, do the same amount of domestic stuff.

The same is of racial issues. I had a big argument with an intersectional feminist who insisted that the ideas of intersectionality spoke for people of colour. They were all on board with intersectional ideas around race/gender/sexuality.

American. It didn't matter that I showed her that half of PoC in the US identify as conservative and that they are less likely to support LGBT issues on average due to being more religious on average. They were the players in her game and must be of one intersectional hive mind.

Lol, ever since I came to Canada the only people that were racist against me were those damn intersectionalist who wanted me to fit into my box. I also hate the phrase PoC. If you went to my home country and told them to identify as PoC they will laugh you out of the room...

Many White "liberals" will probably be very upset if they realize white people are among the most liberal in the world, 😜. I wish there are as many liberals in my community (the real kind, not the "intersectional" kind, obviously).

Stuff like that is why I prefer honest-to-god homophobic bible-basher style conservatives - they at least do us the favour of recognising individuality.

There is this shaming tactic where POC are harried into votes for a candidate ideologically distasteful to them. Hence, the results of elections vary vastly from polls. No one wants to be “outed” and publicly castigated for their nonconformist views.

This! Arguments with intersectional true believers end with them looking at me like a flat earther if I even imply that their “intersections” aren’t agreed to by everyone. By the way, you & James explained intersectional theory to me better than they ever did! Thanks!!

Even though PoC usually vote democrat(I know conservative =/= republican but the two usually correlate)
