I might also have to write a thing distinguishing forms of leftism - radicals, libertarians, identitarians and liberals which also break down into smaller groups and where they overlap &where they conflict utterly. Might have to recruit someone skilled in the art of Venn Diagramshttps://twitter.com/EricHamell/status/981142017353842688 …
Do you see American Antifa as operating on the same premises but just applying them to different culture and history?
-
-
As far as I can tell, American Antifa is an umbrella term covering people who physically oppose what they believe is fascism? No central org so probably not much consistency between actions beyond that.
-
And this is why they seem to espouse ideas which are directly antithetical ideologically and intellectually, blending anarchism & Marxism & identity politics?
-
Do they? Wasn't aware there was even an organisation to issue statements.
-
No, I see no statements. I just see what they are saying during protests.
-
Ah yes, then the inconsistency is probably that it's different people at different times / students who haven't thought it all through yet
-
I'm not sure about that. I've heard adult self-described US anarchists agree wholeheartedly with intersectionalism and identity politics. How they can combine the individualism and libertarianism of anarchism with the authoritarianism of identity politics I have no idea.
