It certainly doesn't help when the far-left loons call everyone to the right of them 'alt-right' and go lumping people like Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins with Richard Spencer, ffs.

No major atheist organisations spoke out when Richard Spencer said he was an atheist? Damning! I don't even think it's necessary for people to take responsibility for other people who believe the same thing as them, let alone other people who disbelieve the same thing as them.

And yet again, women and people of color allegedly being made to feel unsafe and unwelcome by certain atheist environments partic online, which only works if you only listen to those who feel unsafe and unwelcome whenever anyone disagrees with them. Don't listen to those people.

I don't want to 'identify' as an atheist and 'do atheism' or align myself with a branch of a movement, but this is kind of being forced on me by the increasing attacks by far-left 'skeptics' on those who won't get in line.pic.twitter.com/DXwLGooCvw

great equivocation of the two
-
How? By saying atheists are to be found along the whole political spectrum I am saying the two extremes are the same rather than that this isn't surprising considering atheism is nothing to do with politics?
-
you're equivocating folks advocating for a free and equitable society with fascists and feudalists Saying "atheism is none to do with politics" is also highly disingenuous and entirely ahistorical.
-
Where? If I say atheists are black and white, rich and poor, clever and stupid, does it mean I think all those things are equal or am I pointing out that atheists range widely. Also lol to definition of far-left as 'people advocating for a free and equitable society'

They've been like this as long as I've known about them.

I see some ex-Muslims headed for the far right because those are the people who most resist Islam and the people who most resist politicians who allow Islam to flourish in Western society without integration. Ex-Muslims go right to protect themselves and their new countries.

Right after the election, a Muslim woman wrote this article describing how the Democrats soft peddling on Islam played a big role in her decision to vote for Trump. It's another area they've doubled down on instead of reflecting on as well.https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/global-opinions/wp/2016/11/10/im-a-muslim-a-woman-and-an-immigrant-i-voted-for-trump/?sw_bypass=true&utm_term=.db748afd955f …

One only has to look at Europe or England to see how large portions of Muslims refuse to integrate into Western society. The Quran forbids Muslims from having non-Muslims friends and says apostates must be beheaded. Islam is incompatible with Western society.
-
To be honest, christianity used to be roughly the same, a few centuries ago. It was forced to accept secular humanist values, we need to force the same on islam, and some muslim already follow that standard. Beyond that, there is no fundamental incompatibility.

Bumper sticker material: “Atheism is not an innoculation against lunacy"

It seems like a lot of atheists believe that it is.

I can't believe there are still people who want to carry on the "atheism wars", which at this point is fighting for control of a dead movement.
-
And in any event, even though I'm an atheist in belief, as a cause, it's secularism that I support, not evangelical atheism.
