Are you equating scientific progress with moral progress? What does eradicating diseases have to do with this? Or women's choices for that matter?

I didn't mention eradicating diseases as a form of moral progress. I was being facetious. Women having choices is better than women not having choices.

I don't see how the push-pull work of improving our selves or our civilization can work unless individuals have the right to potentially sub optimal perceptions or opinions. Sometimes, I'm just not quite right enough yet. Sometimes, I'm flat out wrong. Sometimes, I'm dead-on.

Excellent. Evolution works by producing lots of sub-optimal solutions and weeding out the worst.
