I think I need to because people I respect are asking me why I focus so exclusively on the left when awful things are happening on the right too and worrying that I will strengthen the worst of the right in this way and that I have a secret rightwing bias.

I felt the need for a thread explaining the intellectual interest and why it is there for the left in a way that it isn't for the right. I would be bored if I spent much time arguing against rightwing views. I'd rather identify problems on the left and try to make it stronger.

You will always have people who criticise you for not doing enough or doing what they wanted you to do. If they are so keen on getting something done they should spare the time themselves and just do it! They don't! And most will never do it. So be yourself and do what is fun ;)

You can't comment on everything and if you expose weak thinking on the left you also strengthen the left. Look at feminism as examples, their arguments are so weak because their only mechanism to argue is to label the opposition as anti-women. That works just for so long...
