It's not hard at all. It just doesn't take very long, especially when talking to fellow lefties. It's blindingly obvious why far-right views are wrong. If you think it's harmful to say far-right views don't have any substance, can you say what the substance is? https://twitter.com/Daniel_Rivieria/status/979762815681445888 …

You and I could discuss at length, calling on many scholarly sources & much intellectual history, whether the better way to achieve equality is rooted in foregrounding identity & discourses of power or universalism and emptying identity categories of social significance.

That isn't there on the far-right. There's nothing of substance to engage with if we are immovable on whether women, PoC & the LGBT deserve equal rights, freedoms & opportunities. Best we can do is try to understand the psychology & move people on the fringes back.

Which reminds me, I assume you're probably not a big Amanda Marcotte fan, but she did write an interesting article about how to combat far-right college speakers' ideas without fitting the Regressive Left stereotype:https://www.salon.com/2018/03/12/progressives-can-win-the-free-speech-debate-but-not-by-fighting-on-the-rights-turf/ …

OK, bit concerned by this definition of Christina Hoff Sommers tho. Dismissing her as a troll suggests it unlikely her views are going to be considered seriously.

Oh, I see. Gotcha! The problem is a lot of far-right extremists say they want to have a discussion, but when pushed back they respond, "LOL, triggered snowflake! I just pwned you!" Apparently in our current discourse, trolling is now a reasonable argument.
