Be glad you've never been in the british military, We had to fold and roll individual socks around cardboard, so they appeared to be smiling, as part of our locker layout. This may explain why I have none of the cleanliness or tidying aspects amongst my OCD behaviours...

It is a bad thing when someone uses a ruler to check things, not just the socks, are the right size and in the right place. Mistakes could see the locker and contents on the floor or even thrown out of the window.
