Not really. It is the aim of sentients. To increase wellbeing and decrease suffering. https://twitter.com/leiferik47/status/979421497193201664 …
I disagree strongly with that but can't be bothered to have the is/ought argument again. If sentients don't like to suffer and we care about their wellbeing, reducing suffering is inevitable conclusion. And this is instinctive to us.

No probs. It could stem from the different way we use particular words, in this case "ought". I don't disagree with anything in the second part of your tweet. No harm done.
-
Course not! :)

You can even disagree with me and that would still be OK.
-
I didn't realise you had a big"is/ought" discussion it I wouldn't have started. Thanks for your time on this.

It went on for two days and involved much acrimony and heatedness. It is OK to talk to me about stuff! You're one of my earliest tweeps and I like talking to you.

I knew you before you was famous

I’ve had the whole is/ought convo with the other Helen & her argument is good (although I agree with you & disagree with her, mainly from a policy/politics perspective). My reasoning runs as follows:https://www.libertarianism.org/columns/science-vs-politics-humes-guillotine …

I really enjoyed that work, and whilst I cannot confirm all the scientific claims (I do not read as much as I would like), I agree with your statement. I think you may have oversimplified the premises and conclusion about having babies, but it did not detract from your piece.

That’s why I put links in - in a 1500 word piece, I have to hope readers are willing to dive down rabbit-holes :)

I never picked that up. When the housework is done, I will. Your opinion on this matter is very rare (based on my experience).

Common in the UK civil service (although sometimes ignored/abandoned, as both immigration policy pre-2005 and the indoor smoking ban disclose).
