ive found bad takes behind block walls before. that’s what i do
but hey, i’m sure this was an anomaly from her because everyone ive spoken to is shocked about it. so it’s cool
(i’ll keep my screenshots up, though, as receipts. the internet doesnt forget)

Consider not doing that but respecting that if someone has taken steps not to have contact with you, this is a request to be left alone that you should respect rather than forcing the contact & justifying it with 'But she's really, really wrong.'

this is inconsistent logic. i’m blocked by tara mccarthy, as are many others. we shouldnt subtweet her when she says something dumb?

No. You should not find ways to circumvent people's blocks even if you really, really disagree with them. If someone takes steps to prevent you from having contact with them, you should not force that contact. Applies even to people who you think morally reprehensible.

It’s a normal part of twitter though. To screenshot a tweet & argue against it if you are blocked. It’s not forcing an interaction. It’s arguing points without interacting. I can see why you might disagree with this, though. But it is something quite common on twitter

I do disagree with it. I have always disagreed with forcing contact but I now disagree with getting past blocks too because of an escalating problem where people think they have right of access to people they strongly disagree with. Gonna publish on this in a few days.

The idea behind free discussion and debate is that people who want to talk to each other about things should be able to. If someone doesn't want to talk to someone else, they shouldn't have to.

and they dont but i should still be able to criticise their ideas even without them responding or ever having to see my posts because theyve blocked me. What's wrong with that?

if we just stop criticising people's ideas once they've blocked us doesnt that lead to things like... echo chambers n shit? no ideas can get in, no ideas can get out and no criticism can happen. this is a net loss for society imo.

People have the right to be in echo chambers if they choose. However, this doesn't just apply to people who block everyone who disagrees with them. They might also block people who are rude, abusive, misrepresent them, intimidate them, stalk them elsewhere. Any reason.
