I have another person who feels entitled to pester me for days and days because they really, really disagree with something I said even tho I have asked her to go away. James and I wrote a thing about this - the Fallacy of Demanding to be Heard - which we'll publish shortly.

I'm alarmed by the number of times I have seen 'I'm justified in trying to force someone to hear me berate them because of how wrong they are. What else could I do? Look at what they said!' No, you are not & you'd see it as the abusive and harassing behaviour it is if done to you

If you don't want me to do this, stop saying that. Jesus. I actually saw someone justify making multiple accounts to stalk someone by saying 'I tried to leave him alone but I couldn't help it when he says things like that Gender Studies aren't producing useful knowledge!'

It's the same mentality, but much less severe consequences as people who say if ex-Muslims don't want to be persecuted, they shouldn't criticise Islam. It comes from a place of zealotry. 'I am so sure my position is morally righteous that it's justifiable to harass dissidents.'

I can deal with this but the mentality is alarming. It doesn't do to underestimate it.
