I believe the Earth orbits the sun despite not actually knowing how this was determined or looking at the evidence. This is not an article of faith coz it comes under the umbrella of provisionally accepting scientific consensus while knowing much will be disproved.

It is exactly faith. You trust that the scientific consensus is correct. You trust that (if you've seen them) pictures and experiential evidence from stuff that's been in space are true. Now that faith is well-placed, but it's still faith (unless you've been to space).
