You scholars know anecdotal cases aren't a good basis for sweeping generalization. Terms are sometimes twisted, yes. But more often they refer to recognizing/removing systemic barriers/ ensuring equal opportunity. Push back on unjust use, don't vilify the concepts themselves.

important clarification, thanks. But i think this distinction is often lost on the lay public who isn't focused on the specific subgroup you're critiquing. Many ppl are coming to apply these definitions more broadly than warranted: rejecting the benign as well as the corrupt idea
