Since you mentioned the word ("mansplained"), can I just say that I am 100% in favour of people using that word if they want to (because free speech), but I am then 100% justified in interpreting that usage as sexist. (1/x)

A. The explanation is either Right or Wrong (R/W). B. The listener either Knew it already or Didn't (K/D). C. The explainer is either male or female (M/F). Decision procedure follows. (2/x)
-
A = W. Reject explanation and stop. So A = R. B = D. Thank explainer for explanation and stop. So B = K. As snarkily or as politely as you like, explain that you already knew that, and stop. We never have to get to C. The gender of the explainer is irrelevant. (3/x)

So a reply that implies that the gender of the explainer /is/ relevant (e.g. "thank you SO much for mansplaining that to me" or whatever) is inherently sexist and therefore anti-feminist. (4/5)

I support people's freedom to be hypocritical if they choose, but I also support other people's freedom to point it out. ------ Finally:
@HPluckrose, just to be clear, this diatribe is not aimed at you - you mentioned the term, but did not use it! (5/5 - ends)
