This matters not only because equating 'violent criminals' with 'men' is a bigoted & hateful generalisation but also because we can't address the problem unless we identify it correctly. We want to reduce violent crime, not men.

Those things are connected. Historically, men have created societies that excuse violent criminals who target women. For example: the Bible (written by men) explicitly condones rape.
-
Lets send them to prison.
-
Surely you see how we can condemn men who advocate rape and not condemn men who don't? What's the alternative? Keep all men in concentration camps? It is the definition of bigotry to blame a whole group for the actions of their worst. People see this when it's Muslims or PoC.

Unfortunately for women the latter do not wear labels.
-
They kind of do. Don't date felons.
-
Only a (small) proportion of men who are violent to women are even arrested.
-
good, you know your percentages. I suggest you date a man for a long time before becoming sexually intimate with them. also, don't drink and date. It is extremely uncommon for a husband who is sober to rape his wife.
-
Are you suggesting...wait, Christ, are you saying that women should be responsible for the forseeable consequences of their actions? A revolutionary idea!
-
I fucking hope not.
